Training & Teaching > Master’s Program in Human Rights & Genocide Studies
The Master’s Program in Human Rights & Genocide Studies is an interdisciplinary, post-graduate program taught at the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt (Oder)), Kingston University (London), the University of Siena, Collegium Civitas (Warsaw), and Uppsala University.
The three-semester program provides participants with a deep understanding of mechanisms involved in the protection and promotion of human rights, and to critical discuss techniques and approaches to the prevention of genocide.
The program consists of modular courses in international law, political science, history and dispute resolution. An important place is given both to practice (including an internship) and to academic research (including a dissertation). Successful students obtain a jointly awarded academic degree (“Master of Arts in Human Rights and Genocide Studies”, M.A.).
As a part of the program, students can specialize in international conflict prevention and management. In this regard, the Center for Peace Mediation offers a course on basic principles and methods of interest representation in the international human rights field focusing on situations involving conflicts along national, ethnic or religious lines.
