Training and Coaching: EEAS and EU Peace Mediation Course and Individual Coaching
In 2011, 2012 and 2013, the Center for Peace Mediation, in partnership with swisspeace and mediatEUr, supported the EU in professionalizing its capacities in the area of peace mediation. The program included a three-day intensive training component and individual coaching sessions for European External Action Service (EEAS) officials and EU Member States representatives. The courses were organized by the EEAS in collaboration with the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA).
Both training and coaching were tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the participants who work in or on conflicts as process supporters, advisors or mediators. The curriculum allowed the participants to improve their knowledge and skills in communication, conflict analysis and mediation as well as to develop responses to the specific methodical and structural challenges of mediation offered and supported by the EU.
