Julia von Dobeneck, Senior Project Manager and Researcher
Julia von Dobeneck, mediator and trained in organizational development and change management, is senior project manager and researcher at the Center for Peace Mediation. She holds a diploma in Media Science from Technical University Berlin.
As peace mediator, she led community mediation projects in Kosovo, including dialogue facilitation on the municipal level, political consultations and round-tables with multiple stakeholders. Together with her multi-ethnic team, she implemented an infrastructure for mediation in Mitrovica/Kosovo on both sides of Ibar river, including mediation trainings and supervision for local mediators and supporting them to act as a conflict sensitive “third side”. Julia v. Dobeneck has years’ experience in political consultancy and analysis of political structures, having worked eight years as a scientific adviser for members of the German Bundestag. She has always focused on political participation and dialogue instruments in the on- and offline world.
At the Center for Peace Mediation, she currently focusses on a research and transfer project with the Unit S03 | Crisis Prevention, Stabilisation and Peacebuilding at the German Federal Foreign Office where she holds an embedded researcher position within its Peace Mediation Team.

Besides her academic research and teaching, Julia v. Dobeneck conducts mediation and communication training and is engaged as a systemic change manager in organizational developments.

- joining research based methodical approaches (theory) with political realities (practice) of peace mediation and mediation support
- creating a hub of mutual exchange between theory and practice
- developing a research perspective regarding the framework and political realities of peace mediation and mediation support
